Pottage Batt Wool Sari Silk Alpaca Fiber Batts Hand Dyed 52g 2.0 oz OOAK - Pottage 1

£10.95

Hand Carded Batt: Pottage #1

I have been creating Pottage Batts since 2013. Various vegetables and grains could be added to the pottage stew as it burbled away on the fire while also being eaten from, meaning that it is essentially an endless stew. I utilised the word ‘pottage’ to invoke the concept of ‘anything can go inside’ while referring to the vegetable stew namesake. This philosophy ensures I waste nothing useful.

This batt has been made from the recycled bits leftover from the making of other batts. Due to the way I card batts, occasionally there isn’t enough room for some of the Wild or Smooth batts to fit onto the drum during the second pass on the carder. I save these strips, and the bits that accumulate on the licker (feeder) drum, and combine it with other wool.

As a result of how these batts were made, you can expect a wide variety of wool and silk content, much of which has been hand dyed by me. This can include anything from wool to silk to cashmere and camel down.

Some of the added fibers (listed above) will not felt, so please bear this in mind. They will produce a lovely effect when felted with the wool though!
