Make Yarn.

Making your own yarn is easy and fun, but there is a small learning curve. Also, practice makes perfect. :) In this video, I talk briefly about wool preparation and the differences between them. Tools needed: drop spindle - can be any, top whorl or bottom whorl, though top is better for beginners wool - wool is better to start with since the scales on the fiber grab better; scrap yarn - this will become the leader to attach the wool to the spindle time - practice spinning for at least 15-20 minutes each day!

Have handspun.

How To - Tutorial - How to use a niddy noddy! Some of the terminology of handcrafts are silly, and this one is no exception! I try to go slow so you can see how it works. If you need me to do this again with a better explanation or a better camera angle, let me know! I'll post some pictures to my blog too.

Spin batts.

In this tutorial episode, I show you how to prepare a funky, textured batt for spinning--and it's suitable for beginner spinners! Wait, I thought I had to spin plain wool until I got super even yarn? Well, you can always do that, but isn't it more fun to spin a pretty color or something that has a lot of visual texture? Totally! I know that batts can be very intimidating, but in this video series, I show you exactly how easy it is to draft and spin a textured batt with a drop spindle. Everyone can do this! It might be a challenge getting the hang of drafting at first, but within no time, you'll be spinning gorgeous art yarn like a pro!

Make rolags.

In this video, I show you one way to make rolags with a blending board. There are lots of ways to apply fiber and remove it, and this is only one way. In this new video series, I will be making focused tutorials in regards to blending boards based on my community engagement results. I want you to ask questions like, "How can make them smoother?" "How do I make them more artsy?"
